Here are the other posts in this challenge I’m participating in:
Our wedding took place on the beautiful Island of Maui high in the mountains. I didn’t want the typical beach wedding so we went with the perfect view instead. My mom and I found out that my uncle had a gorgeous garden up in Kula he was willing to let us use for my wedding if I wanted. When we drove up there to check it out not really thinking it would be very exciting, we both nearly fainted when we saw it!
It was the most beautiful garden I had EVER seen with my own eyes and the view was perfect in every way. It was the most wonderful blessing for us to have. We literally had a fairy tale wedding!
The day started with lots of busy bees buzzing around our house preparing for everything. My bridesmaids and I went to starbucks to have coffee together and then off we went to help set up at the reception before going up to my uncle’s house to get ready. My Kumu Hula (hula teacher), aunty Ke’ala, fixed my hair, a friend of the family did my make-up, all the while another friend of the family kept his video camera rolling.
It was a lot of fun getting dressed and preparing to say I do to the man I was madly in love with (and still am, mind you…just wanted to clarify that ).
Just before I walked down the isle I suddenly got nervous. Was I really going to do this??!! What if he gets cold feet?!?! What If I get cold feet??? What if I trip and fall and look like the most ridiculous bride ever to walk this planet?! What if our marriage doesn’t work out? Am I making the biggest mistake of my life?!?!?!
Then, just as quickly as the fear came it also went away. I felt peace about the choice that I made, and while walking down the isle and looking into Travis’s magnificent blue eyes I knew that he would be totally committed to me and I to him.
We were the happiest couple that day. Nothing could’ve stolen our joy from each other as we kissed and sealed our vows.
Stay tuned tomorrow when I’ll tell you how our reception turned out!
