Make Your Money Work For You (Series) #1: Rich Dad Poor Dad Book Review

  • Buffer

Today I am so excited to announce a new series (one I’ve been wanting to do for a long time): Make Your Money Work For You.  In this series I will teach you what I have learned about making money work for you rather than working for money.

I would like to begin with recommending the very same book that changed our lives completely: Rich Dad Poor Dad: What The Rich Teach Their Kids About Money – That The Poor And Middle Class Do Not!  It will not only educate you on this very subject of making money work for you, but it will change your entire perspective on wealth, along with some pretty hilarious stories Robert Kiyosaki has to share.

The Rat Race.  Robert Kiyosaki talks a lot about the rat race: we go to work to make money, we spend the money, we go to work to make more money, we spend the money, we go to work to make more money, and on and on and on…round and round we go.

He even created a game about the Rat Race that I highly recommend:

Not only is it a lot of fun, but it teaches you how to use your money to get ahead even if you start with hardly nothing.

You may be thinking it’s too hard to exit the rat race and just like you I believed this.  However, now that I have been better educated on the subject of money and how to use it I have learned that it’s actually much easier than you could ever imagine!

Face Your Fears.  I just love what Rich Dad in the book says: “It’s easier to work for money, especially if fear is your primary emotion when the subject of money is discussed” (Pg. 48).

Do not underestimate the power of fear!  For most people (including me at times but I do try very hard to master it) it is the driving force behind their day-to-day decision makingAgain, I can’t say it better than Rich Dad, ” When it comes to money, most people want to play it safe and feel secure.  So passion does not direct them.  Fear does” (pg. 47).

How do you face your fears?  Educate yourself.  The reason so many people cower away from investments or anything else regarding money is because they don’t know how it all works.  Don’t let that stop you!  Learn about it!  Take a class, ask your wealthy uncle questions about how he got rich, serf the web, read books.  The old adage really is true: knowledge is power.  So use that thing God gave you called a brain and learn about all things money.  Never, ever stop learning!

What about you?  Do you have any fears regarding money you haven’t been able to get past?  Mine is making the one wrong choice with our finances that would ruin us.  Would love to hear yours :)
